So... the Dianatic Warriors are on a rampage again...
Epona_Warrior decided that she was going to make a safe place for women to be at a convention... somewhere. In fact, there is probably a LOT of important information that she probably would love to give out... but a random group of people who watch the show, and like, haven't actually talked about the convention, got hit by this. Probably none of the people in the community were even going to... unnamed convention. It just really confused and hurt people.

Now, I suppose I should speak up here. I'm not completely against the idea of setting up a haven, when you consider some stupid fans like I've seen running around the new MLP fandom. I really support a room where people who are in fear of being abused can run to and be safe at. Two or three of them, in fact, as sex is a confusing enough problem without having to throw gender into the mix.
I say this because, in general, I see a handful of bad eggs inside the community that are really... bothersome. Fightsy, territorial, demanding, ego driven freaks, who I wouldn't put past them attacking a smaller victim because they think they are safe to do so. I would welcome guardians of the group to be aware enough to make sure this doesn't happen. Friendship is not universal, and some people are *not* going to be people's friends. Some people just want to do what these people are going to talk about in their sacred space.
Of course, the problem is the Warriors see everyone as the enemy, instead of the troublesome few, because us humans tend to divide everything into us and thems, and the greatest us vs them happens to be a stupid chromosome.
In a perfect world, I think there is a place for the Dianetic Warriors to actually stand as guardians of female safety. The fact they have set up a room... somewhere... someplace at a convention, probably is a good thing, and something they can handle. If it wasn't that they carried all this paranoid 'privilege' baggage with them, I'd be overjoyed.
The whole baggage of the Trans Community bigotry is still being carried here, I suspect from Pantheacon, though, and it really set off people in the channel, who have no idea where this blast of feminist crusader is coming from. It doesn't help that Epona_Warrior decided to blame a female rape victim of committing rape in the victim's mind.

Really, I just continue to be stupefied how this group who wants to call themselves warriors continues to have such poor skills and organization. I don't think they're ever going to learn how to communicate with anyone, much less the women they want to help. They can't even be bothered to say what convention they want to save people is at.

Epona Warrior, if you ever read this, take a moment to take a deep breath before you post. Make sure people know what Place you are talking about. Maybe even find a small room to explain who you are and what your group does before going on talking like you are talking to friends instead of complete strangers. I'm all for you making a place where you are comfortable, and I am all for you sheltering those who are in pain. You just need to learn to do it better, and you need to aim your message better.
